Three Great Cars to Take to the Beach

Three Great Cars to Take to the Beach

“It’s summer and it’s time to hit up your favorite beach. Tomorrow you can hit up your wife’s favorite beach! There are so many fantastic places to catch some rays in Southern California that you can almost do no wrong when determining a destination. So you’ve got your cooler of water and beer, your SPF 45 sunscreen, paddle ball, sun umbrellas, and even some sandwiches from Ralphs. But you may have overlooked one of the most important things: what kind of wheels are you going to be hauling you and yours up to the sand in? When you are shopping for a car, it’s important to keep your summertime beach excursions in mind. Here are three cars that are great for taking to the beach!

1. Kia Sorento

Just one look at Used Kia Sorento for Sale and you can see that the Sorento is going to help you find your path to the beach, with its roomy interior and smooth handling of the curvy Malibu roads. Silent on the inside so you can pump your favorite Beach Boys tune, and roomy enough for the entire family and all the extra fixings you need, the Kia Sorento is the perfect beach vehicle. You can open the sun roof to allow the rays to warm you up in time for a cooling dip into the ocean, and the extreme comfort inside will make you almost long for traffic on the 10 on your return trip so that you can spend extra time in the car. With a great 4×4 drive train, feel free to drive it on the beach itself – why park on the road and carry all your stuff yourself? That cooler is too heavy, though you’re sure to lighten the load during the afternoon. It’s no surprise that we have an SUV on this list, and the Kia Sorento  is the best of the best.

2. Subaru Outback

The Subaru line makes great cars for off roading and for adventure. The Outback handles like a sedan, but has the room of a wagon, and with a high wheel base, you can go up and over anything. How about up and over some major rocks on the sunny coast? Fill up the trunk space with your cooling beverages and the wiffleball set, and take the gang, or the family, to the beach. Every Subaru has All Wheel Drive, so fear not of being stuck on the beach. If a big tsunami hits, you’ll be safe in your Subaru, easily traversing the fallen trees and seething waters. Luckily it’s not very likely that the tsunami will interrupt your beach day. So when you’re thinking of your next car, remember that the AWD capability of the Subaru Outback is not just for ice and snow (which we don’t have to worry about here in California), but can also be great for beach travel, and even all the fantastic national parks within driving distance.

3. Honda Odyssey

So you think that a minivan isn’t cool enough to be seen driving? Is that what you’re thinking? I implore you to try to think again. The Odyssey is a different type of minivan. It’s comfortable and roomy, and drives more like a car than like a van. Also, as a Honda, it maintains fantastic resale value. You can get a good used Odyssey from online car sales. When you have your Odyssey, you’ll wish you were on an actual odyssey, so that the trip would take longer. Be happy with your sunny and sandy destination. You can go with the up to six or seven friends, and all have your gear. Throw your boards on top, strap them down, and catch the waves morning, noon, or night.

The basic rule of thumb is you want a roomy and comfortable car to take the beach. These three options will never let you down on your quest for a perfect day at the beach, which really is what summer is all about.
